A Zoo Story Evaluation

Although I believe my play to have been a success for many reasons, there are also many reasons why I feel it wasn't as good as it could've been. There were many complications during the rehearsal procedure which impeded me and my partners ability to work on certain aspects of the production. Both during and after the show me and my partner received positive reactions from the audience, the use of a minimalistic set kept the audience focused and engaged on the play, the quiet chirping of birds and wind breezing  also retained the feeling that we were in a park. My partner and i chose to have an image of a park on the background to further reiterate the outside feeling but sadly a member of the tech crew had failed to display the image of the park behind us somewhat losing the immersive feeling of the play. As discussed before with my partner the use of a red flash whilst stabbing him was captivating to the audience and made it seem more dramatic. This was further show...

Timeline/Working on A Zoo Story

Myself and other classmates decided to hot seat in our characters, we felt this would be a good opportunity to get a deeper understanding of the role and the person we wish to play them as, bringing a further sense of realism to the character. Had a lesson where we focused on referencing and correct structure of writing. During rehearsals both my partner and I decided to be off script as soon as possible...

Role in the play Rationale Overall I want the production to be a success that not only leaves them questioning the deeper meanings of the play, but also enjoying it and having a fun time watching it throughout. In order to make my production a success like I want, there are many things that I will need to make it how I want it to be. The areas of research I looked into are: I watched Andras Ostroms short film of a Zoo Story. Read different reviews on other productions that people had created to see what worked well for them and what they could've improved on. Looked at an analysis of the play. Read different publications of the script to see what was sometimes taken out or replaced. Looked into the history of the play and discovered that it was written by Edward Albee in 1958, it was the first play he wrote and did it in 3 weeks. Spoke to my classmates and got their opinions on it and some of their ideas that they could see working well for the show. I want to provi...
